“Hahaha!” That’s the sound of Alex and I ready to go possum shooting. We got all our warm clothes on and got some torches. Dad was taking us so we had to wait for Dad to get the gun and the gun belt. We walked out to the shed which was where the motorbike was. We went to the middle side.
We were giggling the whole way there. Every time we shot a possum Alex and I would race to get it. Alex taught us a new trick which was stand on their head and pull their tail. It was Alex’s first possum shoot and she was really excited. Alex wanted to help Dad pluck the possum and she was pulling the fur out faster than Dad.
One of the possums we shot was up a little hill and there was two of them. Alex tripped over a stick and face planted into a prickle. She stood up and there was a prickle poking out of her nose.
Next we saw a possum on top of the hill. Boom! The possum was shot dead. We went up to get it. I had the torch not Alex, so I was running ahead, and Alex couldn’t see. When we were running back down Alex still couldn’t see, and she ran straight off the bank, and face planted. She was laughing luckily.
At the end the possum shoot we got ten possums. When we got home we had a milo and talked to mum about the shoot. We loved the possum shoot and can’t wait to go on another one.
